School of Dance offers Highland Dance programs with no pressure to compete, no expensive recital costumes, dancers parties, social events and an annual recital held in Milton at the end of May. We offer Scottish Highland Dancing for ages 3 years and older WHAT IS HIGHLAND DANCING? Highland Dancing can begin at an early age and is a superior form of physical exercise which promotes personal grace and precise muscle control. Dancers will learn dances such as the Highland Fling, Sword Dance and other traditional dances. Dances are performed to bagpipe and upbeat celtic music. Highland Dancing develops a sense of rhythm and co-ordination and offers an enjoyable disciplined art form. Dancers can, if they wish, compete at various highland games held throughout the summer and indoor competitions held in the other seasons.All studio highland dancers have the opportunity to participate in S.D.T.A. exams and perform at local events such as Robbie Burns Day, Celtic Christmas events. Our studio is home to many award winners including Provincial, Canadian Inter-Provincial, North American Highland Dance Champions and runner-ups in the World Championships.
